Nehaj Fortress and the channel view

Nehaj Fortress, built in 1558 above the town, was constructed specifically to defend against Ottoman attacks and monitor shipping through the Senj Gate strait. Reaching Krk and Rab from Senj

From Senj's harbor, the southern part of Krk island is under an hour away by boat, and Rab is just a bit further south. This route is one of the shortest mainland connections to both islands, making Senj a practical starting point for exploring Kvarner.
